Karma Guitars® Limited Warranty
Effective since: June 25, 2026 · Last updated: October 6, 2026
Who this warranty applies to
This limited warranty applies only to the original buyer of a Karma instrument or pickup system, residing in Mexico or the United States, who purchased the product at karmaguitars.mx or karmaguitars.us. Products purchased from an authorized dealer are handled directly by that dealer. Warranty service is performed in Mexico; shipping the product to our service center is at the customer's expense. It is not transferable and is valid only for products used under normal conditions and with proper care.
1. Warranty registration
To validate this warranty, the original buyer must register the product at https://karmaguitars.mx/pages/register-your-warranty within 30 calendar days after the date the product was received, providing proof of purchase (receipt or invoice). If it is not registered within that period, coverage is void.
2. What it covers and for how long
Karma Guitars warrants that its instruments and pickup systems are free from defects in materials and workmanship for the following periods:
- Instruments: 12 months from the original purchase date.
- Pickups and electronics: 12 months from the original purchase date.
If a factory defect appears within the warranty period, we will repair it or, at our discretion, replace it, at no cost for labor or materials. The warranty covers repair or replacement; it does NOT include a refund. Real defects in materials and workmanship ARE covered and are handled under this warranty and applicable law. It applies only to Karma-branded products and only while they belong to the original buyer.
Accessories (cases, strings, T-shirts, anti-feedback soundhole covers and similar items) are not covered by this warranty. If an accessory arrives with a factory defect, report it within 5 calendar days after receiving it to support@karmaguitars.mx.
3. This is normal maintenance, NOT a factory defect
To avoid misunderstandings, we will say it plainly. The following is a normal part of owning a wooden guitar and is NOT considered a manufacturing defect:
- High or low action (string height) is a normal adjustment: it is set with the truss rod and changes with humidity and the season. It is not a defect.
- Not holding its tuning during the first days is normal: new strings stretch and settle.
- Slight fret buzz depends on string gauge, action and climate; it is corrected with a setup. It is not a defect, unless there is a real manufacturing problem.
- Needing a setup when you receive the guitar is normal: the change of climate between the factory, our warehouse and your city moves the wood.
- Variations in wood grain and color compared with the photos on the site are normal: wood is natural and no two pieces are identical.
- Tone is subjective: “it doesn't sound like I expected” is not a manufacturing defect.
4. Care and climate (owner's responsibility)
Wood is alive and reacts to humidity and temperature. It is your responsibility to keep your instrument between 45% and 55% humidity and at around 21 °C (70 °F), store it in its case, and not expose it to the sun or heat sources or leave it inside a car.
Damage caused by climate or storage is not covered, including:
- Cracks, warping or lifting of the top or the bridge caused by humidity, dryness, heat, sun or sweat.
- Finish damage caused by exposure or improper storage.
5. Normal wear and consumables (not covered)
- Wear from use of strings, frets, saddles, nuts, batteries and finishes.
- Oxidation or wear of plated parts, hardware and tuners caused by sweat or use.
- Scratches, dents and marks from use (pick, nail, belt buckle).
A factory failure of a tuner (tuning peg or machine head) IS covered by this warranty; its wear or oxidation from use is not.
6. Misuse and modifications (void the warranty)
- Impacts, drops, accidents, negligence or improper maintenance.
- Modifications: changing the pickup or electronics, drilling, sanding or lowering the bridge, nut or saddle, repainting or touching up the finish, and installing non-original parts.
- String gauge on docerolas: Karma docerolas are designed for 10-47 gauge strings. Using heavier gauges voids the warranty.
- Replacing the strings with others of the indicated gauge and adjusting the truss rod are not considered modifications.
- Instruments with a missing, altered or tampered serial number.
7. Damage during shipping
Damage that occurs during shipping or transport is NOT covered by the warranty. If your instrument arrives damaged, report it within 72 hours after delivery to warranty@karmaguitars.mx with photos of the packaging and the product, so it can be handled with the carrier or the insurance.
8. How we determine whether it is a defect
Karma evaluates each case with technical criteria to distinguish a manufacturing defect from a matter of use, maintenance, climate or transport. Our technical evaluation determines coverage, without prejudice to the rights granted by consumer law.
9. How to make a claim
To request warranty service, contact us first at warranty@karmaguitars.mx. You will receive instructions and a Return Authorization (RA) number. Without that number, no repairs or evaluations are accepted. Every claim must include:
- Original proof of purchase (receipt or invoice).
- A description of the problem and photos or video.
- The instrument's serial number and the owner's contact details.
The customer covers shipping and insurance to our service center, located at Av. Ignacio López Rayón 211-B, Centro, Reforma, 85830 Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico. Do not send any instrument without your RA number. If the warranty applies, Karma covers the return shipping. If after the evaluation the case does NOT qualify under warranty (use, maintenance, climate or external damage), you will receive a quote for a regular repair, which you can accept or decline.
Every repair covered by warranty is performed by Karma or an authorized service center; any work by unauthorized third parties voids the warranty.
10. Limitation of liability
The sole obligation of Karma Guitars under this warranty is to repair or replace the defective parts, at our discretion. A repair or replacement does not extend or restart the original warranty period. Karma Guitars will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including, among others, loss of time, income or use of the product. Karma reserves the right to improve or modify any product, with no obligation to update or replace those already sold.
11. Legal notice
This limited warranty is the only valid warranty offered by Karma Guitars and replaces any other warranty, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent permitted by law. Some rights may vary under Mexican consumer protection law; this warranty meets the applicable requirements under Mexico's Federal Consumer Protection Law (PROFECO).
